As a first time client of Advantage Pro Services, I couldn’t be more pleased! I needed roof and gutter cleaning as well as pressure washing of my driveway and sidewalk. I first spoke with Kelsie, the office liaison and she was very thorough and quickly sent me an email with an estimate/quote for the services I needed. After agreeing to the quote, they were able to get me scheduled the next day. Technicians Jesus and William notified me of their arrival and worked for 3 straight hours to complete the work, and did an excellent job! They were both very efficient and very friendly. I would recommend this company to anyone needing the cleaning services they offer and I will definitely be a return customer! Thank you! 7/7/25 This was my second service for my roof and gutter cleaning. I don’t know the names of the technicians, but they were very courteous. They did a good job of cleaning the roof and cleaning the debris that was cleaned off. My only note is that some of the debris was blown off onto existing planted beds and was not cleaned up out of those beds very well. The rest was cleaned up very well and I would recommend this company. I am continuing with my bi-annual contract with Advantage Pro Services 1/28/26 I have continued to be pleased with the service I receive from Advantage Pro Services. Alex and his crew were very thorough in cleaning our gutters and removing debris from our roof. Cleanup afterwards was excellent also. I am continuing my bi-annual contract with this company. 👍

How Long Does It Take To Pressure Wash A Driveway

How Long Does It Take To Pressure Wash A Driveway

If you’re a homeowner who takes pride in the appearance of your property, you likely want to keep your driveway looking clean and well-maintained. Over time, driveways can accumulate dirt, grime, and other debris that can make them look unsightly and even cause damage. One effective way to clean a driveway is by using a pressure washer.

Cobble Driveway Pressure Washing

However, if you’re new to pressure washing, you might be wondering how long it takes to pressure wash a driveway. The answer to this question depends on a few different factors, and understanding them can help you estimate the time needed to achieve a clean and pristine driveway. So, let’s dive in and explore how long it typically takes to pressure wash a driveway.

Factors that determine How Long it Takes to Pressure Wash Your Driveway

When it comes to pressure washing your driveway, the time it takes can vary significantly. In some cases, you might be able to knock out the job in just 30 minutes, while in other cases, it could take several hours. The time it takes can vary depending on a number of different factors, going from the size of your driveway to your experience with a pressure washer. Let’s explore some of the things that can impact the time it takes to pressure wash your driveway, so you can plan for an efficient and effective cleaning process.

Size Of The Driveway

The size of your driveway is a key factor in determining how long it will take to pressure wash. The larger the area, the longer it will typically take to clean. A larger area will require more time and effort to cover thoroughly.

In addition to the overall square footage of the driveway, the shape and layout of the driveway can also impact cleaning times. Driveways with lots of curves, angles, or irregular features may take longer to clean than a straight, flat driveway of the same size.

Type Of Driveway Surface

The type of driveway surface can significantly affect the time it takes to pressure wash it. The texture, porosity, and surface condition can all play a role in determining the length of time it will take to clean the driveway.

For example, a concrete driveway may take longer to clean if it is porous and has trapped a lot of dirt and grime over time. In contrast, an asphalt driveway may be quicker to clean due to its smooth texture. A paver driveway with an irregular surface may take longer to clean than a smooth concrete or asphalt driveway.

Level Of Dirt And Grime Buildup

The level of dirt and grime buildup on a driveway can significantly impact the time it takes to pressure wash it. Different types of dirt and grime buildup may require different cleaning techniques to effectively remove them, and each can impact how long it takes to clean the driveway. Here are some examples:

Light Dirt And Dust

When a driveway has light dirt and dust buildup, it usually takes less time to pressure wash as these can be easily removed with lower pressure settings. The duration can range from 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the driveway’s size.

Grease Or Oil Stains

If there are grease or oil stains on a driveway, pressure washing will take longer. These stains require high-pressure settings and sometimes a special detergent or solvent to dissolve them. It can take several hours to completely remove these stains, depending on their severity and the surface area they cover.

Mold, Mildew, and Algae

If a driveway has mold, mildew, or algae, pressure washing will take longer than removing light dirt and dust. These substances can be dangerous to health, and they require specialized care. You might be able to clean it off with certain products, such as bleach or hydrogen peroxide, but you may need to call in a professional for remediation.

Organic Debris

Leaves, twigs, and other organic materials can accumulate on the driveway, making it difficult to clean. It may take extra time to remove them before pressure washing the driveway. Depending on the amount and type of debris, you may need to sweet or use a leaf blower for removal before finally pressure washing the driveway.

Paint Or Graffiti

If a driveway has paint or graffiti on it, pressure washing can be a challenging task. These substances require a more involved process. You need to use a paint stripper, wait for it to work, then remove the painting before pressure washing can commence.

Tire Skid marks

Skid marks caused by vehicle tires require high-pressure settings and specialized cleaning solutions to remove. The time it takes to remove these marks depends on their severity and how long they have been on the surface. You need to use a specialized solution like a concrete degreaser, allow some time, then scrub with a stiff brush before you can power wash, which will add to the time.

Operator Experience And Skill

The operator’s experience and skill level are crucial factors in determining how long it takes to pressure wash a driveway. While a novice operator may take several hours or even days to clean a driveway, an experienced operator can complete the job in significantly less time. Experienced people have a better understanding of pressure washing techniques, equipment, and safety measures.

Someone who constantly uses a pressure washer knows how to adjust the pressure and angle of the spray wand to clean efficiently, which can reduce the time it takes significantly. They can quickly determine the appropriate pressure and nozzle size for each job and can clean the driveway without causing any damage to the surface. They’re also familiar with the most appropriate types of nozzles and attachments for various types of dirt and stains, such as grease or oil stains, tire marks, and mold and mildew.

Obstacles And Challenges

One of the primary obstacles that can impact the time it takes to pressure wash a driveway is landscaping. Shrubs, trees, and other landscaping features can make it difficult to access certain areas, which can slow down the cleaning process. Similarly, parked cars or other obstructions can make maneuvering the pressure washer challenging and slow the cleaning process.

What Is The Fastest Way To Pressure Wash A Driveway?

Pressure washing your driveway can be a tedious task. But if you follow the right steps, you can get it done quickly and efficiently. By following these tips, you can pressure wash your driveway in no time.

Choose The Right Pressure Washer

The type of pressure washer you choose will make a big difference in how long it takes to clean your driveway. Generally speaking, electric pressure washers are best for smaller jobs like driveways, while gas-powered pressure washers are better suited for larger jobs like decks and siding. If you have a lot of dirt and grime on your driveway, opt for a gas-powered unit, as they create more powerful streams of water that can blast away tough stains.

Prepare The Area Beforehand

Before you start pressure washing your driveway, prepare the area by removing any debris, such as rocks, sticks, or leaves that may be stuck in the cracks or crevices. This step will save you time because it ensures there are no obstacles when you begin. It also prevents any damage to nearby plants or furniture when you blast off the dirt and grime with water pressure.

Utilize Different Nozzles

Using different nozzles when cleaning can speed up your process significantly. For example, using a fan nozzle (also known as an “all-around nozzle”) is great for general cleaning, but switching to a zero-degree nozzle (also known as an “injector nozzle”) can help cut down on cleaning time by blasting away stubborn dirt and grime from hard-to-reach areas more effectively. Additionally, a rotating turbo nozzle can help you cover more surface area faster than any other type since it rotates at high speeds. Breaking up stubborn dirt and grime quickly without moving around too much becomes easier.

Choose The Right Surface Cleaner

Once you have prepped your area for pressure washing, it’s time to choose a detergent that will effectively clean your driveway without damaging any surfaces. Generally speaking, a mild detergent or concrete surface cleaner is all needed to clean most common driveways materials like concrete and asphalt. However, if you have brick pavers or more delicate surfaces, you may need something more specialized, like a brick paver solution. Once you’ve chosen the right detergent for the job, pour it into a power washer sprayer and attach it to your power washer before starting up the engine.

Start At The Top Of Your Driveway

Now that everything is ready to go, it’s time to start cleaning. The best way to begin pressure washing is at the top of your driveway and work down towards the bottom in overlapping strokes until you reach the end of each section before moving on to another section. Doing this ensures that no area gets left behind. As you progress through each section of your driveway, make sure not to use too much pressure, as this can damage delicate surfaces like pavers. Also, try not to keep your sprayer in one spot for too long to avoid uneven spots and an inconsistent finish.

Hire A Professional Pressure Washing Services

Hiring a professional pressure-washing company can save you time, money, and effort in the long run. Professional companies have access to high-pressure washers that generate up to 4,000 psi or more. This high power makes removing stubborn stains or caked-on dirt on your driveway easier. Plus, they have the experience and expertise necessary to clean your driveway properly and safely.

Conclusion

Pressure washing your driveway doesn’t have to take forever! By following these tips, you’ll be able to power through this task quickly and efficiently and have a freshly cleaned driveway in no time. If you find it too time-consuming or labor-intensive,  contact us today, and we’ll gladly do all the dirty work for you.
