The Cactus King
The Cactus King is a succulent farm & nursery and its claim to fame is that it’s home to the biggest collection of (for sale) cacti and succulent plants anywhere in the world!
Offering plants for both retail and wholesale clientele, this garden center retails a great many types of cacti and succulent plants, including Agave cornelius, Senecio peregrinus, Opuntia basilaris. You can shop online, too.
The Cactus King prides itself on being environmentally conscious, too. It uses around 250,000 gallons of water each year, whereas many other plant retailers of the same size use between 5 million and 12 million gallons of water each month.
Houston Plants & Garden World
This garden center began in 1981 and offers locally-grown indoor plants and landscape plants. Here, the nursery is abundant, with seasonal plants, perennial plants, cacti and succulents, roses, tropicals, trees, and herbs all being grown.
As well as all manner of quality, locally-grown plants, you can buy garden tools, pottery, fountains, mulch, compost, and more from Houston Plants & Garden World.
Buchanan’s Native Plants
This garden center has a varied offering, with products including plants and flowers, organic plant care, soils, compost, and mulch, pots, outdoor furniture, and more.
Also on-site at Buchanan’s Native Plants is the ‘Bungalow’. This is a home decor and gift shop which offers everything from clothing to candles.
Buchanan’s Native Plants also hosts events and seminars throughout the year, covering a variety of gardening topics.
Wabash Feed & Garden Store
Wabash Feed & Garden Store has been serving Houstonians for more than 100 years now! If it’s garden-related, you’ll probably find it here. This garden center has an impressive variety of items available, including plants and seeds, yard decor, pets, livestock, and beekeeping equipment.
Plants For All Seasons
Plants For All Seasons has been meeting the gardening needs of Houstonians since 1973. Like the name suggests, you’re going to find plants for all times of the year here.
At Plants For All Seasons, you can get your hands on grasses, vegetables, perennials, trees, shrubs, annuals, and much more.
This Houston garden center hosts classes for people of all ages and abilities, and even offers a delivery service.
